CAMPUS SAFETY

The main goal of the Campus Safety program is to prevent accidents by instituting a formalized accident prevention program. The University has an established commitment to provide a safe and healthful environment for students, faculty, and staff. One w ay the University realizes this goal is through annual inspections of all maintenance shops. Also, statistics are kept on accidents and illnesses. This information is used in an accident analysis program to identify high risk areas and to develop campus safety programs. Personal protective equipment programs are established which make safety shoes and glasses available to employees at reduced cost.

Campus Safety Coordinators are appointed in each department. They receive and disseminate safety information from Environmental Health and Safety and serve as a vital link in our safety program. A number of safety committees have been established throu ghout the campus. These committees play an important part in identifying and addressing safety issues.
