REMEMBER TOGETHER WE CAN PREVENT
FIRES
In Case of Fire
If a fire occurs, your actions can
make the difference between a minor fire and a major disaster:
- Close the door to the fire area.
- Activate the building fire alarm.
- Call 911 to report the fire.
- Evacuate from the building.
- DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR.
- CRAWL LOW IN SMOKE
Note: You should use
the extinguishers only if you are trained to do so.
Smoking
For everyone's health and safety smoking
is prohibited in all campus buildings. (Special regulations apply
to the Residence Halls.)
Safety Systems
For everyone's protection most University
buildings are equipped with fire alarm systems. For your safety whenever
the fire alarm sounds evacuate. Fire alarm pull stations are located
near exits. Learn the location of the one nearest your work location.
General Fire Safety Policies
- No storage in exits, corridors
or stairwells.
- Don't overload outlets.
- Handle flammable liquids with
care.
- Don't leave appliances unattended.
- Good housekeeping is essential
for a fire safe work place.
- If your clothes catch fire: STOP-DROP-ROLL.
